Just a little thing that I love about hardware stores and teaching. I place my desks in groups and I am constantly straightening desks. Face it...2nd graders are wiggle worms! Well, one day on a trip to Lowes with my family & I saw a bin of Zip ties and BINGO. I grabbed a pack and brought them to school and zip tied all of those desks together. No more straightening for me:) The desks move as one!

Zip tie crates to make shelving. Hmmm... To help organize my literature units and or maybe put lessons in the crates for the literature units, so students can go through their lessons as they read. I think I will have a required finish time for the units, and teach specific skills a few times a week that relate to the unit lessons.

@Kristi Berry Hedwig the Owl is a little stuffed owl I found at Kirkland's. I want to use him like the "Elf on a Shelf" and move him daily. I would sit him somewhere around the room where my kiddos can see him. If their desks are neat and clean they get a "Desk Owl" reward and treat of some kind. I took a picture of Hedwig and erased the background to insert him into the desk reward cards. You can also use the reward cards for upper grades just minus the moving owl.
