Belgian .38 Top Break Revolver by D. D. LeVaux. The revolver has a disc-like extractor instead of the usual star-like extractor used by later makers. The top latch is pulled back, not up. It is a .38 center fire. The engraving has some gold inlay remaining.
Among the guns on display was a beautifully decorated revolver with an elaborate art nouveau-style silver grip, the result of a collaboration between S and jeweler Tiffany & Co. — it was made for the 1893 Columbian exhibition in Chicago. This revolver and others like it marked a departure for S, which usually used its own in-house engravers.
