~ I have this LP Jesus Christ Superstar is a rock opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber with libretto by Tim Rice. The musical started as a rock opera concept recording before its first staging on Broadway in 1971. The musical was first produced as an original album where the part of Jesus was sung by Ian Gillan, the lead singer of Deep Purple. The title song, "Superstar", sung by Murray Head, and "I Don't Know How to Love Him", sung by Yvonne Elliman, were both big hits.

The interlocking angels at the bottom were used as the poster for the show as well as the album cover, in gold on dark maroon. This poster was originally printed on buff paper and is very rare. Watercolor, ink and dyes on board.
