More than just a rockstar book - Keith has led an interesting life - from his early days in London during WWII through the early days of the Stones to today. Better book than you'd expect.
Books Worth Reading, Keith Richards, Richards Autobiography, Reading List, Rolling Stones, Favorite Book, Mick Jagger
Life (Keith Richards' autobiography) "With the Rolling Stones, Keith Richards created the riffs, the lyrics and the songs that roused the world, and over four decades he lived the original rock and roll life. Now, at last, the man himself tells us the story of life in the crossfire hurricane."
"The lead guitarist for The Rolling Stones recounts his life, from a youth obsessed with Chuck Berry to the formation of the Stones and their subsequent stardom, and discusses his problems with drugs, the death of Brian Jones, and his relationship with Mick Jagger." www.thewatershed.com #recovery #keithrichards #rollingstones #alcoholism #addiction #sobriety #mickjagger
'Life' by Keith Richards, with James Fox: The lead guitarist for The Rolling Stones offers a no-holds-barred account of his life, from a youth obsessed with Chuck Berry to his formation of the Stones and their subsequent stardom, in a book where the author frankly discusses his problems with drugs, his relationships, his estrangement from Mick Jagger, bandmate Brian Jones' death and more.
De langverwachte autobiografie van de gitarist, songwriter en medeoprichter van The Rolling Stones. Ladies and gentlemen: Keith Richards. Eindelijk vertelt de man zelf over het leven in de crossfire hurricane: obsessief luisteren naar platen van Chuck Berry en Muddy Waters, gitaar leren spelen en een band vormen met Mick Jagger en Brian Jones.
Wanna be a rock star? Then take a page from the ultimate party animal, Keith Richards. This autobiography from the guitarist, songwriter and founding member of the Rolling Stones will teach all about fame, fortune and notoriety.
“For legions of Rolling Stones fans, Keith Richards is not only the heart and soul of the world’s greatest rock ’n’ roll band, he’s also the very avatar of rebellion: the desperado, the buccaneer, the poète maudit, the soul survivor and main offender, the torn and frayed outlaw, and the coolest dude on the planet, named both No. 1 on the rock stars most-likely-to-die list and the one life form (besides the cockroach) capable of surviving nuclear war.”

The Bell Jar - Sylvia Plath. I studied her poetry in high school for my English Literature class. I completely adored it so I insisted on going out and buying this to read. It's dark, but she was such an immensely talented author. ~ I prefer her unabridged journals but the Bell Jar was worthy of reading

From a good spy to a "bad" girl, from World War II France to the dodgy, present-day suburbs of Las Vegas, 2014's recommended summer reading list reaches wide and deep. Staffers at Houston's high-profile independent bookstores - Blue Willow Bookshop, Brazos Bookstore and Murder By The Book - weighed in on new novels, thrillers, mysteries, nonfiction and books for teens and younger readers. I added a few titles, too, because I'm partial to dads (see No. 3) and because it's not every day you get to explore a Norwegian childhood in such painstaking detail (see No. 11). The grand total is 21 books, with just one overlap: "The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair," by Joël Dicker, recommended by Brazos Bookstore and Murder By The Book.

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini....This has been on my to-read list for a long time. I finally got around to reading it and am so glad I did. Such a touching and moving store. Finished July 2014.
The Kite Runner (Khaled Housseni)- a story that is mainly a memory of a man, Amir, memory's of growing up with his friend Hassan in Afghanistan. This novel displays themes of courage, friendship, and the father-son relationship. Not my favorite book but it was a decent read Favorite character: Hassan

The Kite Runner--Khaled Hosseini. One of the most powerful, disturbing, and redemptive books I've read.
The Kite Runner- Good but Tough This is one of my top favorite books of all time. I recommend it to everyone!
THE KITE RUNNER (Khaled Hosseini): "For you, a thousand times over" *** "It may be unfair, but what happens in a few days, sometimes even a single day, can change the course of a whole lifetime..."
The Kite Runner - Khaled Hosseini. Quite possibly the most raw, powerful, devastating, and inspiring book I've ever read.

The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks
Worth Reading, Books I Ve, Reading List, Book Clubs, Favorite Books, Hela Cells
this is an amazing story, well written and worth reading. You don't realize what this woman's life/cells have contributed to this world. More should have been done for her and her family for her unknowing contribution
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks: To all fellow nerds, this is a great book. Well researched and amazing story of the woman behind HeLa cells and the dawn of molecular biology.
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks....an amazing story, couldn't put this book down! Would make a great choice for a book club...
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks - Superb piecing together of a medical mystery that became key to the creation of many vaccines and medicines we use today. The book will soon be adapted to film. My favorite book of 2010.
Henrietta Lacks (August 1, 1920 – October 4, 1951) was an African-American woman who was the unwitting source of cells from her cancerous tumor, which were cultured by George Otto Gey to create an immortal cell line for medical research. A truly amazing story.
IMMORTAL LIFE OF HENRIETTA LACKS; What a legacy this woman left us - countless medical cures made possible because of her unusual blood. True story and a great book club read.
Dwight Garner of The New York Times wrote: I put down Rebecca Skloot’s first book, “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks,” more than once. Ten times, probably. Once to poke the fire. Once to silence a pinging BlackBerry. And eight times to chase my wife and assorted visitors around the house, to tell them I was holding one of the most graceful and moving nonfiction books I’ve read in a very long time …It has brains and pacing and nerve and heart.
Books to Go [8 books w/discussion guide! Perfect for a book club.] The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks / Rebecca Skloot ~ Her name was Henrietta Lacks, but scientists know her as HeLa. She was a poor Southern farmer who worked the same land as her slave ancestors, yet her cells—taken without her knowledge—became one of the most important tools in medicine. The first “immortal” human cells grown in culture, they are still alive today, though she has been dead for more than sixty years
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks// On my to read list!
well, maybe I'll give it a shot...got great reviews (mostly)
Harkness Book, Night Book, Books I Ve, Night Deborah, Favorite Books, Deborah Harkness, I Ve Read
One of the best book I´ve read. Together we lifted our feet and stepped into the unknown"—the thrilling sequel to the New York Times bestseller A Discovery of Witches Deborah Harkness exploded onto the… Second book in series.
Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness -- book 2 of All Souls Trilogy, due out in July 2012 - Can't wait.
Shadow of Night | Deborah Harkness. Book 2 of the All Souls Trilogy. If possible, Shadow of Night is even better than the first book, Discovery of Witches, especially if you are a fan of historical fiction. Harkness, an historian, has impeccably researched her subject and this book is entirely delightful. Very highly recommended! ~SN
Shadow of Night: A Novel (All Souls Trilogy) by Deborah Harkness (book 2) http://www.amazon.com/dp/0670023485/ref=cm_sw_r_pi_dp_w2Q3tb18TAT4522B
Shadow of Night, Deborah Harkness 2nd in the All Souls Trilogy. Reading it now and liking it as much as the 1st (A Discovery of Witches)
Amazon.com: Shadow of Night: A Novel (All Souls Trilogy) (9780670023486): Deborah Harkness: Books
Recently finished: Shadow of Night [Deborah Harkness] Book 2 of the All Souls Trilogy
Can’t get enough of London? Deborah Harkness’s ‘All Souls Trilogy’ takes you to Elizabethan England. She picks her favorite books.
I apologize that it took so long to get a book read! I think that this factor plays a lot into the review of this book. Without further ado. . . Here it is: Shadow of Night: Book 2 of The All Souls Trilogy This book took a very long time to read. I can't blame it completely on the book because there were some other factors such as life in general, starting a blog for cooking and food porn and also a new discovery of a game on the I-Pad called Spelltower. I will tell you NOT to check it out if you like word games because it is going to be my downfall. I digress. . . I would like to point out that I really LOVED the first book in this series - A Discovery of Witches. Vampires and witches were described in new ways and did not fall into the typical Hollywood/teen fiction world that we have seen in recent years. This author must truly be brilliant. Deborah Harkness pulls elements of historical fact and literary finds with traditions from a variety of cultures to truly make the world, past and present, come alive and from a variety of perspectives. I think my big problem was that the first book was so wonderful and ended with a cliffhanger. Then I waited. . . There was no Book 2 when I completed it and I went on to other things. If you haven't read Book 1 you are very lucky because you can read these back to back. I spent so much time trying to retrace/recall what happened in Book 1 while reading Shadow of Night that I know I'm missing entire parts in the continuum. I also didn't like the male vs. female battle that went on for control sometimes. Apparently Matthew in the past is not as liberal and understanding as present day Matthew! Good parts of this book that make it ultimately go on the list of books worth reading: 1. I really like these characters. They have flaws and seem human even if they have supernatural powers. 2. I liked the time travel and the glimpses into Elizabethan England and France as well as Prague. From my perspective getting a new back story for the Golem was pretty cool all on its own. 3. We learned a lot about Ashmole 782, the book at the center of this time traveling quest. Until I downloaded this photo from Amazon, I had not read any other reviews and it sounds like a lot of people agree with me. This book is not as good as the first but necessary to bring us to the conclusion for Book 3 which is not yet set with a release date (it might not yet be done according to the author's website). If you haven't started this series maybe just wait? The story of the first book is also going to be a movie. . . So final verdict: On the list of "books worth reading" but with some conditions!
