Vintage posters from the Imperial War Museum I really like the concept of these poster, showing a clear message by flipping a general dining table over into a garden bed. The perspective used also makes the table come almost right at you making it eye catching. The strong bold GROW YOUR OWN FOOD text also makes you feel like you're being yelled at or scolded by the poster.

Abram Games created some of the most original – and controversial – posters of the war. He was strongly influenced by avant-garde art styles, such as Surrealism, and uses this to good effect here to stress the important link between self-produced food and the meals served in soldiers’ mess halls.

Grow Your Own Food, 1942, poster. Abram Games championed the use of modern war poster designs. He took an unpatronising view of his audience, arguing that people were fully capable of working out a modern design whatever their experience of art. This surrealist image works by inviting the viewer to take the place laid at the table, and encouraging the link between eating and cultivation. V&A Museum, London, England.
