    I had one of these! Sometimes called a Church Purse. It is crocheted using a dishwashing detergent bottle for a base. Any oval bottle will work. When it is closed it is a purse, and opened it is a baby cradle.

    Corningware was new in 1958 -- the blue corn flower pattern was soon in tons of kitchens across America - it was only available in casserole type dishes at first (the electric percolator would come along in 1960) My grandma had these. I remember many wonderful dishes made in them :)
