Well, first of all - as I'm sure you know already, but for the purpose of starting at the beginning - the bliaut is the 12th century gown and the cotehardie is the 14th century gown. We're not entirely sure how the bliaut was constructed - there are several theories - but most likely it was constructed almost entirely geometrically. Its neckline is a keyhole or a vertical slit. It has rectangular sleeves sewn onto the shoulders at a 90 degree angle, with a gusset in the armpit for movement…
