5th Grade art club Topography idea. Students begin drawing an organic shape on a large pc construction paper. Cut out - re-trace it on another piece copy the line only a little smaller. Keep up until pieces become small. Once all pieces are cut out - start to glue together put a small piece of styrofoam in between to show height. Place styrofoam above one another, easier to press down as built up.- created via http://pinthemall.net

This is a piece by Fiona Curran. She used masking, painting, and layering to create this piece. Our students would like the interesting colors, shapes, and textures involved and could facilitate a good discussion. -Lisa Romano and Karith Hilmer
