Orion's Dreamy Stars. A colony of hot, young stars is stirring up the cosmic scene in this new picture from NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope. The image shows the Orion nebula, a happening place where stars are born. The young stars dip and peak in brightness due to a variety of reasons. Shifting cold and hot spots on the stars' surfaces cause brightness levels to change, in addition to surrounding disks of lumpy planet-forming material, which can obstruct starlight.

Inside the famous nebula in Orion, IRAC has revealed many young stars and a long filament of star-forming activity containing thousands of young protostars still in the process of formation, NASA says.

Near the "sword" of the constellation Orion lies an active stellar nursery containing thousands of young stars and developing protostars. Stars more massive than our sun light the Orion nebula, seen here as the bright region near the center of the image

The Orion Nebula in the 'Sword' of the constellation of Orion. This is one of my most favourite Nebulas and my Luv found this great photo of it for me. Orion is probably the most interesting constellation

The Orion Nebula, an immense stellar nursery some 1,500 light-years away. Also known as M42, the nebula is visible to the unaided eye, but this stunning infrared view from the Spitzer Space Telescope penetrates the turbulent cosmic gas and dust clouds to explore the region in unprecedented detail.
