I get the whole open cabinets/shelves idea in small kitchens because it opens up the space but I know my dishes, plates and cups don't match and since storage is at a premium, I need doors that allow me to shut away whatever is stowed inside them! I like the cupboards, and the storage on top of the cupboards as well as the wainscoating on the walls and crown moulding. The color is neutral, but I would need more depth in the colors. Small Kitchen by Texas Standards
Love everything about this. Sometimes a white kitchen can look a tad too professional to be homely but this is beautiful.
Camouflage appliances with custom cabinetry in small spaces, as was done with this fridge, freezer and dishwasher. Shallow storage drawers are hidden in the toekicks, and hold less used items like fine silverware. Leaded-glass panes help make the tight space look larger.
Dark color schemes shrink an already small space and make it less inviting. Use soft shades on kitchen cabinets and natural light to visually expand a small room. BUT... if you want a warm cozy kitchen and yours is small, then go for the warm wood tones - sometimes getting what you love means breaking the rules!
