abandoned City Hall NYC subway stop | New York City’s Hidden ‘City Hall’ Subway Station – Pictures

  • MaryAnn Lowe Daughdrill

New York City’s Hidden Subway Station. Deep in the belly of New York’s subway system, a beautiful untouched station resides that has been forgotten for years with only a limited few knowing of its existence. Stunning decoration with tall tiled arches, brass fixtures and skylights run across the entire curve of the station, almost a miniature imitation of Grand Central Station. It was opened in 1904, however the station was closed and boarded up in 1945. City Hall Subway, New York City

abandoned places City Hall Subway Station- New York City

CITY HALL SUBWAY STATION | MANHATTAN | NEW YORK | USA: *New York City Subway* Deep under old New York, lies abandoned platforms, train tracks and entire train stations. Some, maybe glimpsed by passengers on some lines, others lay hidden behind doors or flights of stairs. The most startling, is the terminal which rests beneath City Hall Park, an opulent and beautiful show-piece, but deserted and largely forgotten since the 1940s

  • Megan Baskerville

Opened in 1904 and designed by Rafael Guastavino, the City Hall subway station was intended to be the crown jewel of the original New York City subway line. The station was closed in 1945 and has remained that way to date. Originally, commuters were required to disembark at the Brooklyn Bridge station before the train made its way back uptown. In recent years, passengers have been permitted to remain on the train while it passes through this stunning and historic station.

Herdman's Mill, part of a model community built in 1835 by the Herdman brothers from Belfast. They succeeded in creating a community where people of both religious backgrounds forked and lived together for over 170 years, until the competition from China became too stiff and the mill was closed in 2004.

Come in and rest a spell. I dreamt somerthing like this the other night, only there was a bed and an old lady sleeping on it. We thought her dead, she just got up and left... and we were going to buy the house (it had no outer walls anymore, just the inner ones and furniture), 93 euros a meter. Any good dream solver out there? ;)

What an adventure it would be to find places like this. I feel like they are singing to my ears, songs of times past. Intriguing to me to imagine what might have been. What might have been.
