(Used this mostly as inspiration for Ellie's 1st birthday banner.) Didn't use paint-chips. (Seriously people, that's basically stealing.) Cut hearts with Cricut (about 2.5"). Cut "Happy Birthday" w/ Cricut (1.5"). Glued letters to hearts, punched holes in the tops and strung coordinating ribbon through to hang. Took two hours, off and on. 3D heart garland. I read up about these and made some myself with magazine pages! You can use any type of paper depending on what effect you want.Threaded with colourful embroidery threads and popped beads on string!
Remember that hearts are Christmas symbols too. The heart garland looks awesome a tree, especially Victorian motif or rustic chic, or childrens. The hearts can be made out of all sorts of things from Burlap to expensive papers. or even thin flashing type sheet metal. paper heart garland...lovely for anytime of years in my book. Cheers.
Sewn Paper Garland - Punch out a stack of stars from different patterned papers. Randomly arrange and rearrange stars on a large table. Run each star through the sewing machine. Grab a few at a time, so you aren't constantly stopping and starting your machine. Also sew towards a point, not from one, in case the point would get caught or bend. It takes less than 10 minutes.
