Staircases built to code may be great for people, but smaller pets might find them steep or intimidating. Here's one solution: build your pet a separate staircase!

If I owned a vast amount of wooded land I wouldn't want to spoil it with some giant monstrosity. This is the type of dwelling I'd want.

Inside the one-room house, the reclaimed-redwood platform bed hangs on slender steel rods fastened to the ceiling. The ceiling cap is a vent--the house's thermostat.
