Instead of giving kids an arbitrary allowance, they can pick what tasks they want to do and earn as much money as they choose. Dave Ramsey talks about this.

Calming Jar- Tell the child that he/she needs a break and may return when everything has settled to the bottom of the jar.

A time out jar. Shake it up then watch the glitter slowly fall to the bottom. When you are as calm as the glitter in the jar you can come back. Cute idea!

GENIUS!!!For the kids at the restaurant while you're waiting for your food: DIY busy wallet! pick up a cheap wallet. fill it with pictures, scrap scrapbook papers, stickers, and various treasures. What kid doesn't love destroying a wallet!!

Keep them busy for hours! A block of ice with treasure frozen inside and a hammer. Great for those 100+ degree summers!

Our "Harmony Jar" -

Harmony jar- positive discipline for fighting kids

Do everything without whining, complaining or arguing. Every one has their own jar. Start off the week with a set amount of quarters in each jar. If they are caught whining or complaining, they lose a quarter. At the end of the week, they get the money that's left or you could put it towards an activity.

I love this idea. Fill a jar full of activities for kids to do all summer long. The pdf of ideas is a good starting point but some of the spelling is not great. Have the kids help you make jar at the beginning of the summer, have them create some of their own. Also a good idea for adults, create your own idea generator.

Next winter, if your area is below 32°, go outside and blow "ice bubbles" The kids will never forget it!! Will have to remember to do this!!

Smart Ways to Declutter and Stress Less!

Here's a great Lazy Mom Tip for getting the house picked up! Clutter Busting Game using ping pong balls-Each person chooses a ball, completes the task, then chooses another one. After 30 minutes, whoever has the most balls gets a prize -- like a no-chores day, or gets to pick a movie. - Such a great idea!"

Time Out Timer

ice eggs - Freeze balloons filled with water and small toys. Cut balloon off and play with eggs outside. Provide spoons for cracking ice and digging treasures out.

Love this idea! Toys that are not picked up go in the ransom box and they have to pick a chore to complete to earn it back! A great lesson in personal responsibility.
