      Prismatic Shaded Colour Wheel | Moses Harris, 1766 - His Natural System of Colors, written in 1766 presented a more elaborate version of the color wheel. He preferred the format of the circle to that of the triangle for the contrasting possibilities of complimentary colors were more clearly defined.

      Vintage Color Chart Moses Harris’s chart (1766) was the first full-color circle. The 18 colors of his wheel were derived from what he then called the three ‘primitive’ colors: red, yellow and blue. At the center of the wheel, Harris showed that black is formed by the superimposition of these colors.

    ANTIQUE COLOR WHEELS ~ ~ The story of the Color Wheel is a very interesting one which I would strongly suggest reading over at Imprint, for a full history class. But in the meantime here are visuals that are most appealing to me. All of these antique color wheels and color cards were hand made in the 16th, 17th and 18th Century! I would love one of these!

    kite strings No Strings Attached Kite season is in full swing which means that road-side guys are coating kite-string with coloured paste embedded with powdered glass so that flyers can cut each others kites. Here, empty reels are waiting to be loaded with string.
