    "This Old House" tip - Alternative caulking method for the less smooth/steady or practiced ... for a good, attractive seam.Tape before caulking; place painters tape edge 1/4" on both sides of the joint, then caulk as deeply as can. Smooth out with damp finger. Then peel off the tape immediately, within a few minutes, before it dries.
