Easy Printing on Fabric with etching on Styrofoam plate as stencils I remember doing this in elementary school art class.

I started with an ATC sized base, cut in cardstock. I placed the base on a small styrofoam plate, and traced around it with a pencil. I always have these plates laying around my work room, because I use them as pain palettes—I buy them in gigantic stacks at my local dollar store.

Scratch foam is basically a thin piece of soft styrofoam that can be scratched and "carved" into with simple tools. Made for kids but perfect to use in simple surface design projects when you are looking to transfer pattern and create texture.

Using gesso with stencils is a really fun technique with neat results for journal pages. For my first page I painted it with with water soluble oil pastels. Yes, you read me right – water soluble oil pastels!

Tin foil art. Tacky glue on foam board. Dry. Cover in aluminum foil. Smooth down with tissue.  Painting afterwards is optional.
