GREAT IDEA! The next time you have green onions, don't throw away the white ends. Simply submerge them in a glass of water and place them in a sunny window. Your onions will begin to grow almost immediately and can be harvested almost indefinitely. We just use kitchen scissors to cut what we need for meals. I periodically empty out the water, rinse the roots off and give them fresh water.

Grow Green Onions in Water! Place the onions into a jar of water and put into a sunny window, rinse and refill the jar with fresh water every few days. You’re able to use the tops as needed while keeping about 1 inch of the very bottom of the onion bulb intact to put back into the water. These bottoms will regrow their tops, which provides you with a never ending supply of green onions
