Molokini Crater Maui. Hawaii. Molokini is the stuff of legends in the diving community. The crescent-shaped rock, which sits about three miles from the South Maui coast, is the rim of a volcanic crater. The shallow waters cradled within are a hospitable spot for coral and a calling card for more than 250 fish species. For an iconic Hawaiian dive, this is the place.

The Crescent-Shaped Molokini Crater in Hawaii -- Molokini is a partially sunken volcanic crater just 2.5 miles off the coast of Maui, Hawaii. Located between the islands of Maui and Kahoolawe, Molokini is now a beautiful underwater sanctuary for marine life. Molokini is truly one of Maui’s most breathtaking snorkel and dive locations. Part of Maui County, Molokini is a popular destination for scuba diving and snorkeling with many tourist boats coming each day from the south coast of Maui.

Molokini Crater, Maui, Hawaii. I want to go see this place one day. Please check out my website thanks. This is a submerged volcanic crater. I went out on a snorkeling trip here. The deep, treacherous water was a dark blue, saw no fish.

Molokini Crater, in the Hawaiian Island chain, is a dormant volcano with a living reef in the center making it the best place to dive and snorkel. Whale sharks like to hang out on the back side of the crater
