    SlyneHead--This 60ft round stone tower light was built in 1836 and became inactive in 1898. Slyne Head originally had twin towers. The east tower was abandoned and its lantern was removed when the station was upgraded in 1898. Located on Illaunamid, a rocky islet at the western end of a reef off Slyne Head, the westernmost point of County Galway, Ireland about 8.5 miles southwest of Doonlaughan. Accessible only by helicopter. Site and tower closed.
