Is this poster problematic? Is racism literally a black and white issue? Is this poster a variation on other images that we see (black and white handshake?) What is the impact of these images? Is the message the most important part? Is it oversimplified?
O ye who believe! Let not some men among you laugh at others: it may be that the (latter) are better than the (former): nor let some women laugh at others: it may be that the (latter are better than the (former): nor defame nor be sarcastic to each other, nor call each other by (offensive) nicknames: Ill-seeming is a name connoting wickedness, (to be used of one) after he has believed: and those who do not desist are (indeed) doing wrong. Fear of offending, fear of realizing that society is still perpetuating racism, or fear that you may be benefitting from the structural racisms that keep the non-dominant groups without and the dominant with all. We don't talk about race and racism because we are afraid of offending others or ourselves. It's more complex than all of that - I've just seen this happen in so many classes.

"We have been basically persuaded that we should not talk about racism" If we keep silent then the face of racism will not change, the fight for equality is dysfunctional with out talking about the things that make us uncomfortable.
This is how society avoids the problem of racism, they don't talk about it. If its not mentioned its not a problem. Things people stay silent about are things that won't change. If people are encouraged through ideologies to stay silent and do so then racism stays alive in the world.
Because for us as Indigenous people "we're conquered savages, and we must not speak against our conquerors!".... Racism = Ignorance
We have been programed to keep our moth shut. To brush things under the rug so we don't have to deal with it. we pretend not to see and hear the ignorant offenders words to other Americans. All for fear of ricking the boat. We need to start rocking the damn boat if we want to get anywhere because we have gone in circles for years. Stand up for each other, don't take the crap people are giving you. Speak up, Speak out!
"We [white people] need to accept that when a person of color tells us we've fucked up, the answer is not to get defensive. When we get that instinct to say “geez, I’m sorry, I didn't mean it that way at all,” it’s time to stop right now. It doesn't matter how you meant it. It really doesn't. Someone doesn't have to have racism in their heart to do something racist. And doing something racist doesn't make you an evil person who can never do good again, should never be an activist, should run
I Will Speak Out, So If That Makes Me A Racist So Be It! SPEAK The Truth!..

@Geertrude - makeup . . . Beauty comes in all shapes and forms, which is revealed in the photography series by Russian photographer Alexander Khokhlov. Along with make-up artist Valeriya Kutsan, both collaborated to capture a moment of beauty in black and white. Intricate patterns and smooth, realistic objects on powdered faces make Weird Beauty a lovely sight to gaze and contemplate.
A face in black and white - Moscow-based photographer Alexander Khokhlov loves capturing images that blur the lines between 3D and 2D. In fact, this has been the theme surrounding his last three projects: 2D or not 2D, Angry Beards, and Weird Beauty, all of which make up (pun not intended) his overarching series Art of Face. To create the surreal images, […]
Rarely has a photo series been as bluntly, concisely, and accurately titled as Alexander Khokhlov’s Weird Beauty. The Moscow-based photographer, known in part for his fashion and beauty work, captured a gorgeous model with her face entirely painted in black and white. #body #art #paint

Alexander Khokhlov is a Russian photographer who loves to use the human face as his canvas for creating graphic, black and white face painting with makeup. From the WiFi icon to the pop icon Mickey Mouse or a QRcode across his model’s faces, Khokhlov’s project is quite interesting. Rather than relying on canvas, paper, or any other synthetic material, Khokhlov relies on the beauty and lines of the feminine face to form this project, entitled Weird Beauty.

in the 1960s the "whites" and "blacks" supposedly had equal rights but alought of people still treated "blacks" really badly and had a hatred for them that was un waveringly true.
This was the fight for desegregation of the Boston Public Schools in the early -mid 70s. I was one of those children who faced violence for being bused to a different neighborhood. I so very Proud to know many of the activists in Boston and around the country who organized for The March Against Racism in 1974 http://www.workers.org/2008/us/ww_1974_0619/
I made a connect to this picture with my article because this picture has children marching for education just so they can go to school. And they faught all these years to be at school and our society just throws it away.

In the 1960s the "whites" and "blacks" supposedly had equal rights but a lot of people still treated "blacks" really badly and had a hatred for them that was un waveringly true. Can racism be finally eliminated in United States?
In the 1960s there was supposedly equal rights for all, yet blacks got showed so much hatred.
1974 anti-racism rally in Boston, making children the victims of racism is unbelievable

“We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color.” ― Maya Angelou I want to try that with people's hands together like that, so cool!
Diversity, is good when race baiters don't create conflict. Tranquility in the midst of diversity is only possible without the individuals that instigate hate and division between races and colors, those are the ones that keep this race business alive. We need fair minded people.

8. Thank you for teaching me to respect all people, regardless of race or culture. (Without your teachings, two of my 3 beautiful children would not exist!)
Nobody is born racist. So true... if us human beings thought more about our kids without our own selfishness and self-centeredness, this world would be a different one. It would be a better one. GOD bless and protect all the children of the world!
Why I love kids. They are still fresh and untainted by this terrible world and all the things that cause divisions among people. Awwwwwwwwwww...............
They always said don't let the thing that can change the world end up in evil hands, sometimes kids are born by evil people.
True. Sadly is something that people must be taught... And why you would choose to teach your kids such wrongness, in either words or actions, is completely beyond me. :/
Awww! Nope, nobody is born racist! It is taught..SO people, teach your children to love everyone the way Jesus wants us to! Remember, Jesus loves you!
TRUTH. Children have to be taught to hate.

Denial of racism is racism
Quotes, Truth, Activism, Word, Well, Racism, Black
In primary school we are taught that racism is a thing of the past, and that we live in a color blind society. The problem with this is that when we say we don't see color we are ignoring the history and struggles that people of color have faced. I do think it is important to judge people
For people to turn a blind eye or pretend this is not a problem , well that's why it is. Just because you ignore it doesn't make it go away. By remaining silent nothing is being done to put a end to this ignorance. Silence a lot of times says more than any words you could say. 2015 and this is still rampant, disgusting. Are we progressing or regressing as Human Beings?
Racism Isn't just whites vs. Blacks, it isn't just a U.S. problem it' a worldwide threat to humanity.
"I have a black friend who grew up in the wealthest part of the state and he said, he had never experienced racism. so therefore it doesn't exist" (my favorite line in college)
Our institutions choose to teach society that racism has since died out due to the removal of slavery but the truth is it's more prevalent now then ever. If we continue to deny racism as a problem, it will grow and continue to infest our country and planet.
The new racism is to deny that racism exists. I can't believe race is still an issue.. And the fact that it is at it's highest point in today's day and age absolutely disgusts me!!
Dispite, and perhaps because of the fact that the script never claims any major character's gender, Little Shop of Horrors can be a satire of racism in America. Audury 2 is manipulitive, full of hate, and only thinks of itself. Gradually, characters are concumed by it. Another example would be that the music includes upbeat, R&B, Klezmer, and general romantic styled music, a testimony of diversity.
If racism was overt you wouldnt have to ask whether it exist or not. Racism today concealed, I've heard because we have a black president means racism does not exist, or because blacks can attend schools with whites and eat at the same restaurant racism is not around any more. It is thoughts like that that make it hard to progress, because racism is not obvious does not mean that it is not there, since we can't see oxygen does that mean that its not there?
honestly I wont champion the black population simply because the black population doesn't give a fuck about me...I just want to work on my goals, while hoping this eventually changes....its hard for me to imagine....but truthfully if I had to be a leader for any reason.. outside of the many people I knew....its was common sense to me....that I had more influence over the black population...any young black guy should see things the same way, while avoiding Hip hop stars
