Smithwicks | I'm about 95% Irish, so I will always have some type of Irish beer in my cabinet. Whether Smithwick's or Guinness, it's all good. Heavy beers aren't something I drink frequently, but I definitely have nothing against them. I love how Smithwick's has a very vibrant flavor and isn't as filling as Guinness can be. "Smithwick's ("smith-icks" in Ireland, with a silent "w") is the oldest ale in Eire, dating to 1710, when John Smithwick built a brewery on the grounds of St. Francis Abbey in Kilkenny (Guinness didn't come along until 1759). Smithwick remained in private ownership until Guinness took control in the 1960s."
