Soda in the 1960's and although I wasn't born until 78 I still remember going to the old general store with a wooden floor at Steve's in Max Meadows VA and getting a soda pop in a glass bottle and opening it on the metal machine and grabbing a brown paper bag filled with gummy worms and chocolates.
Soda in the 1960's...we called it POP and you had to pay a deposit on the bottles. We would gather them up and sell them back to the store. Awwww the good ole' days..
Soda in the 1960's, My friend and I use to collect soda bottles & take them to any store & get 5 cents each for them. We could get enough to get candy for each of us.

Hershey's Syrup in a can---the only way it came. Poked two triangular holes in the top with a bottle opener. Once my mom was heating it up in water and when she opened it hot syrup sprayed all over my face. My aunt rushed in with ice which kept me from having terrible scars...not a good memory!

The Playtex nurser! This is what my girls' baby bottles all looked like in the 80s. I remember being ticked that the pretty ones started coming out only after my youngest daughter was too old for a bottle. :)
Playtex nurser baby bottles. Best invention back then. I babysat kids whose mothers used these. Both my babies used them.
A playtex baby bottle. Used to feed all three of us "kids" in the 60's. Breast feeding wasn't seen as modern then. How silly in retrospect.
The Playtex Nurser's baby bottle. This is what my sister had for her kids. They could be tricky & messy at times. They were much better by the time I had kids.

Stretched Soda Pop Bottles that you could win at the fair. When I was in high school, we got a day off school to go to the Kansas State Fair. They assumed we would ditch to go anyway so they picked a day and told us we could go. I went to high school in a very small town (2,300) that was about 35 miles from the fairgrounds. One of the things we could buy or win (I don't remember) there were these stretched soda bottles. I still have one somewhere in my parents attic.

Tab Cola...The First Diet Soda Produced By The Coca-Cola Bottling Company Once Very Popular Now Rarely Ever Seen And Relatively Hard To Find, Uses The Artificial Sweetner Saccharine.
First sugar-free soda I remember; my Mama was diabetic and had to have her Tab. We were not allowed to touch them.
Tab Cola - first ever diet cola. I remember these bottles. This was actually good soda for "diet".
Back in the 1960s and '70s, Tab and Fresca (and Faygo redpop) were your only real choices for diet soda. It had a bitter, metallic aftertaste (wondeful saccharin), but you always felt more grown-up drinking it instead of, say, a Nehi Peach. In the Diet Coke/ Nutrasweet era, many older people have discovered that they missed the taste of Tab and, in fact, liked it better. That's why you can still buy it in a kind of improved version.
