Elliott Erwitt (1928) born in Paris, France, is an advertising and documentary Photographer known for his black and white candid shots of ironic and absurd situations within everyday settings. With a touch of humor and an eye for the humane, Elliott Erwitt's black and white photographs reveal the most basic and candid human emotions. He developed his vision during the post-war rise of documentary photojournalism, and has captured many of life's most poignant ironies using a humorous vernacular.

The photographer Larry Burrows was shot down while covering Operation Lam Son 719, a massive armoured invasion of Laos by South Vietnamese forces. On this photograph, however, he still had enough energy not only to photograph his fellow photojournalist but to yell out his most famous quote as well «War Is About To Accelerate The Meaning Of Life»
Such a cool picture! I've done this. Well, without the camera.

I went back to this location 5 times trying to capture the people in this scene. I'm very proud of the final piece, basically I just saw a shaft of natural light (just for a moment), a puff of smoke, a parting amongst all the people, & in walked a random girl in a cool red beret - click click click - now thats just pure luck, I took 6 shots in about 3seconds before this moment disappeared. location is called Center Point in Flinders Lane, in Melbourne Australia. ~ Cuba Gallery ~ 5/4/2010

Richard Avedon self portrait. Richard Avedon (5/15/1923-10/1/2004) was an American fashion & portrait photographer. Avedon did not conform to the standard technique of taking studio fashion photographs where models stood emotionless & seemingly indifferent to the camera. He showed models full of emotion, smiling, laughing, & in action in outdoor settings. Avedon died in San Antonio, Texas, of complications from a cerebral hemorrhage. He was on an assignment for The New Yorker.
Richard Avedon (1923 – 2004) was an American photographer. An obituary published in The New York Times said that "his fashion and portrait photographs helped define America's image of style, beauty and culture for the last half-century." Avedon was always interested in how portraiture captures the personality and soul of its subject. As his reputation as a photographer became widely known, he brought in many famous faces to his studio and photographed them with a large-format 8x10 view camera.
