DIY Homemade Mosquito Repellant with 3 ingredients – Lavender, Vanilla, and Lemon Juice! Author: Rachel @ Surviving The Stores Ingredients 5 drops of Lavender Essential Oil 5 drops of Citronella essential oil 3 – 4 Tbsp Homemade Vanilla Extract (which is why I recommend making your own so it’s inexpensive!) 4-5 Tbsp. Lemon Juice or 5 drops of Lemon Essential Oil Instructions Mix all of the above ingredients in a spray bottle and fill the rest up with water (or a mix of water and vodka, or a mix of water and witch hazel). Spray away!! 381K+ And I LOVE the smell of this mixture too! No need for perfume, lol. I also reapply fairly often. There are a few other options that you could use as well instead of the above ingredients (although it might not smell as nice). Instead of the lavender essential oil you could use cinnamon oil, lemon eucalyptus oil, citronella oil, witch hazel, lemongrass oil, or just plain vodka (my homemade vanilla extract was made in vodka). After a whole lot of research into essential oil companies I ended up joining one called Young Living (you can read more about why here). For the past couple of months I’ve been experimenting with another recipe using two of their oils and it works GREAT! Here’s the recipe using only Young Living Oils and water: Print 3.7 from 3 reviews Homemade Mosquito Repellent Using Young Living Essential Oils Author: Rachel @ Surviving The Stores Ingredients 10-15 drops Thieves essential oil blend 10-15 drops Purification essential oil blend A little bit of baking soda or salt Water 12 ounce spray bottle Instructions Put the baking soda or salt (you only need a little bit) in the bottom of your spray bottle. Add the drops of essential oils. Shake the bottle to make sure all of the oils are absorbed into the salt or baking soda. Fill the rest of the spray bottle up with water. Spray away!
