Students are making words in this activity. They are creating a word in a consonant-vowel-consonant patteren. This could be extended into word families or sight words. Students could do this as word work or at a station.
Daily Calendar for Kids.... I love this idea! Each kid has a paper that they have to fill out during calendar time....that way everyone is participating! This would be good to put in a sheet protector so you would not have to make a lot if copies, kids could use a dry erase marker to write on the sheet then wipe off to record the info for the next day.
This website has many ideas for literacy centers for young learners. They include letter recognition, tracing and creating letters, and phonemic awareness. Great enrichment activities to use with students that could then be applied to the things they are working on in language arts.
Practice writing sight words by spinning to get a word and a color, then writing in that color. I have also seen Rainbow Spelling in which the spelling list is given in big letters and the students' homework is to trace the words over and over in different colors so that it becomes a rainbow.
