Shade-Loving Annuals: Balsam. Balsam is an old-fashioned plant closely related to impatiens. Like its cousin, it blooms in a wide range of shades, though balsam plants tend to be taller and the flowers much more intricate than impatiens. It also self-seeds, so plant it once and you're likely to enjoy the beautiful blooms for years. (my newest addition)

How to Get a Hydrangea Plant to Bloom. I seriously was just watering my babies in the front and said to myself I am done with this. Never once got a flower! But gonna try this now and possible plant a few more! Woohoo! Wish me luck!

Browallia -- blue-violet flower for shade. Not enough used because it's not in bloom when for sale. Use with chartreuse: coleus Big Blonde or Wasabi, or sweet potato or licorice vines. Or with orange impatiens.
