A simple way to organize your scraps is by cleaning up the shape of the piece (with a pair of small, sharp scissors like this) and then popping it into a glassine envelope. Craft Paper Storage: Special order 2 gallon ziptop bags, 1 gallon bags won't hold 12x12" scrapbook paper. The best price I found was for 13x15" ziptop bags on Amazon in a 100 pack for about $16. Get packs of pants hangers at your local big box store.
Don't toss out fabric scraps. Instead, stash them in baskets sorted by color. When you're ready to make a scrappy quilt, pull out your baskets and get busy.
