Gorgeous picture, iconic woman, inspirational quote, but not something she would have actually said. "Size zero" didn't become a concept until the ultra thin models like Twiggy came onto the scene.

Thank you Lindsey Bekemeyer...! Totally correct. Never assume the validity of internet quotes. Cannot believe someone made that up and slapped her name on it! Size 0 and 00 came along much later after Marilyn Monroe. Sweet message and point, but NOT legit.

Thank you Lindsey, I was thinking the exact thing.

I agree. Never repinned this because it seemed inauthentic.

I honestly don't care who said it. I actually do not like Marilyn Monroe. But I think the quote is meaningful to me and my life. Therefore, I pinned it.

I have a body very similar to Marilyn's and I have been told by many people that I am too fat and need to loose weight. So even if the validity isn't pure,

The idea can be. I may not be able to be a model in 2012, but my curvy, hourglass body can be just as beautiful as your boyish figure.

Nice quote but ohhhh deary me... I sense, for some strange reason, that she didn't actually say this.

I am comfortable with my size, not going to change to impress anyone. Accept me for who I am or leave my life.

However, we forget that WE are society. As a collective 'force' we have to change this, change society.

More people should think like that...but Marilyn didn't say that, size 0 didn't exist in her time...Marilyn died in 1962 & a size 0 didn't exist until 1966 because of the model Twiggy.

Thank you Bridgette! It annoys me how many people blindly believe what they find on the internet!

clearly some people need to read some of the previous comments. like the one that says I do not care who said it and I actually do not like marilyn.

Cailtlin, If you actually check what size she was, she was at one point something similar to our size four
