November 22, 1963: President John F. Kennedy is assassinated in Dallas, Texas.

Reading newspaper articles from the towns and times of ancestors

Kennedy Assassination I was teaching a high school geography class when this happened. Horrible!

Editorial? Yes. Accurate? Also yes. To me the most unfogettable newspaper front page from the most unforgettable newspaper front of my lifetime. For me, it was a catharsis.

Front page of US army newspaper announcing Hitlers death (1945) A newspaper article printed a couple days of Hitlers death, telling the world the good news. www.jewishvirtual...

If A Woman Needs It, Should She Be Spanked? "Why not" says Miguel. "If they don't know how to behave." Frank says, "Yes, when they deserve it. As a barber I've got a lot of faith in the hairbrush." Teddy offers "You bet. It teaches them who's boss" and William (a *TOY FACTORY* owner!) believes "most of them have it coming to them anyway." Wow.

I still think you women have forgotten in what era this news paper article was written. You all keep acting like it was written yesterday. It was and is an historical fact and a bit of social commentary.

We don't have a problem with it in the sense that it advocates spanking today because it most certainly does not. It's just repulsive that that idea ever even existed in the first place despite what time period it was.

Kayla Potter our Fathers and Mothers lived under different social values and moral codes. Women in that age were expected to obey their Husbands. I am not supporting one life choice or another. I have my own moral standards and do not force them on anyone.

This is such a scary thing. I can't believe there was ever a time when men thought spanking women to "keep them in line" was socially acceptable! I am so glad I am a post women's lib woman.
