Norther Flicker (Frances Slocum State Park; 7/01/13) -- FINALLY! 3rd sighting - the previous 2 sightings were glimpses. I wouldn't add this bird until I saw its stunning beauty. It was a male, in exactly this pose. He was perched on a wire for almost 10 minutes! I was able to walk all around him & watched him for 8 minutes, hoping he would fly and flash his yellow wings, but I left him alone. A few minutes later, he flew past me, flashing yellow, & disappeared into the forest!
