Let cool. 4. Refrigerate in a designated hummingbird feeder pitcher. Nothing extra: There is no need to add anything extra to the homemade hummingbird nectar recipe, i.e. coloring, honey, etc. It’s not necessary and could be harmful. Honey will quickly ferment becoming poisonous to the birds. Humming bird food! had to go find a link i liked on my own sence most of them on pintrest was spam. Anywho this site says 1 part sugar 4 parts water or 1/2c sugar and 2cwater boil and stir till sugar disolves so about 2 min cool before adding to your feeder then fill hang and enjoy!!

Please, do not put honey, Jell-O, brown sugar, fruit, or red food coloring in your feeder! Honey ferments rapidly when diluted with water and can cause mouth sores and even kill hummingbirds. The red dye has NO beneficial ingredients, and it is not necessary to color the water to attract birds to your feeder. Further, there are unverified reports that red dye can cause tumors in hummers.
Beautiful - one way to make anything look more like it grew out of your garden is to cover it with moss. Mix a handful of moss from your yard with a cup of buttermilk in your blender. Put in a spray bottle and spray on whatever. It should grow moss.
