calm-down jars - help kids visualize how they may be feeling internally when they become upset or anxious

Calm-me-jar used for dealing with toddlers and tantrums! i LOVE this article from a Christian perspective on how to deal with this age. "Time-ins" and reasons why maybe my current methods time-out/isolation methods haven't been very effective... BUT some of this gentle parenting is quite comical to me. Not my style, but I can find the right balance for our family. Some ideas to try!

Calm Down glitter jars #2! IMHO I really don't see giving an angry tot a glass jar...but an empty plastic PB jar should do the trick.

Hush Bottles: the calm down solution - In Lieu of Preschool

@ ang: Time-out bottles. Fill a bottle with 3/4 water, one bottle of glitter glue, & ultra fine glitter. Then send this bottle with your child to timeout and they can watch it settle to calm them. Once the glitter is settled their time is up! wow this is such a good idea! if they mess with the bottle their time out time is longer. awesome idea! I like this better than a glass jar!

The 'calm down' glitter jar The idea is that when the jar is shaken, the child is to sit and watch the glitter settle and when it has then they can resume whatever they are doing. Think of it as a cool time out or possibly an early intervention.

DIY Glitter Jar. To help your child calm down.

Too cool down your kiddos, add a lot of glitter in a jar filled with water. Shake it, and tell them they have to look at it until nothing moves. Smart!!

A time out jar. Shake it up then watch the glitter slowly fall to the bottom. When you are as calm as the glitter in the jar you can come back. Cute idea!
