Lots of people today need to really THINK before they speak. Too many people have forgotten how to be kind and speak with respect. The saddest part for me is that children are watching and learning how to imitate the same behavior.

A visual reminder for students and the teacher (especially a substitute) of tasks to be completed at the end of the day before dismissal!  Help students build routine by posting this chart as a reminder of your expectations for them at the end of the day before their dismissal. Kids will love the reminder and it helps an often overwhelmed teacher!

End of the Day Dismissal Checklist. I think I would make this the 5 minutes before dismissal checklist. 1 minute is just not enough time for kids these days!

This would make a great procedure (Harry Wong). Count to five or hold up one finger at a time when the class needs to refocus. Discuss what occurs for each number at the beginning of the school year and eventually the reaction will be automatic.
