Boredom Buster: DIY Ball Run A HAPPY WANDERER You know the old adage that kids have as much fun with the packaging as they do with the toy it contains? Here's yet another clever example; look what you can do with one large flat box and few large cardboard tubes cut in half. I currently have many rolls of washi tape lying around from gift wrapping and holiday decorating, and have been thinking that I'm ready to take on a washi makeover project. But to maximize utility in small spaces it pays to have things do double duty when possible. That's why this ingenious and elegant toy storage play center (for lack of a better term) makes us smile. It's made of cut glass and what looks like brass with a marble base. A little spray paint could do wonders -- but what color(s)? I want something bold, to offset the very traditional styling. I'd like to leave the base alone, as it seems to be real marble. Should I leave the glass as is, or paint that as well? And what kind of shade could I get? Any advice from the AT community would be much appreciated. The last time this dining room was decorated was in 1991 — and it shows! But never fear, this outdated room got a makeover that brought it firmly into 2012! My 2's would LOVE this! Liked how you can ask the children to find objects in the room that can roll down the tubes. Ping pong balls work best.

Great DIY fun linked up by Happy Whimsical Hearts: Ball run fun!

This would be great to make for a dress-up or drama center!

The felt ball pit looks really neat, especially for sensory kiddos we might have, but anyone have any clue what size these balls might be? All I'm finding online are 2 cm which seems a lot smaller than shown here.

DIY ball maze made from cardboard- kids love watching the balls drop- over and over again. Fun race activity. The kids could even make it themselves in the classroom and decorate it.

DIY sequin monogram. Such a fun idea. Would be great for seasonal words-BOO, JOY, etc.

Bottle marble run. This would work on the water wall I have posted. Just use nuts and flat end bolts and screw onto a peg board from home depot. You can cut off the mouth of the bottles to make a larger opening and use golf balls or other balls. Cheap and easy--but so much fun!

Homemade ball maze- and I just threw out several good cardboard tubes like 2 days ago!

In an age of so much technology this cardboard house allows children to explore their true imagination / from loft in soho
