STOP, SMELL & BREATHE: Gaylord's new pulmonary therapy program "Stop and Smell the Flowers" uses photos of flowers spaced 12 feet apart along the halls of Milne. Patients will use the photos to help them set goals and judge how far they've walked. Deconditioning - getting out of shape - happens quickly when patients are hospitalized for long periods. The program's goal is to help motivate patients to get out of bed and walk!
IT"S MORE THAN JUST FUN: February is National Recreational Therapy (RT) Month. But most people don't know what a recreational therapist does. RT uses a wide range of activities and techniques to help people with disabilities to develop the skills, knowledge, and behaviors for daily living and community involvement. This short video gives a great overview of RT. I Am A Recreational Therapist - YouTube
