Rules of Civility by Amor Towles New York in 1938 is the setting for Katey Content's rise from a Wall Street secretarial pool to the publishing world. As the story unfolds her relationships along the way add intrigue and drama. A good novel to "escape" back into a different time and it was very clever how the author tied George Washington's Rules of Civility into the storyline. Definitely worth reading.

The History of Love by Nicole Krauss. You're life will never be the same.

There are two published editions of this odd, bifurcated novel. Depending on which copy you end up with, you'll either start with the story of the artist Francesco del Cossa, a Renaissance Italian fresco painter, or that of George, short for Georgia, a ‘60s teenager who recently lost her mother. Either way you will have the delightful experience of reading something truly innovative.
