Big shoutout to our friends at Plan Indonesia. They have had a busy week. Not only did they recently celebrate 44 years of operation, but they also SMASHED their target for hands raised in support of girls’ education. Initially setting out to get the support of 110,000 people around the country, they’ve managed to get more than 144,000 to raise their hands, with photographic evidence to boot. It’s quite an achievement. #bcimagirl

Bangladesh, 2008 - Women attend a literacy class on a boat. The floating school is a clever solution to the localised cyclones and floods that affect Bangladesh yearly, especially for remote, rural communities who are further constrained by limited infrastructure. The boat is equipped with computers and other electronic learning devices powered by roof solar panels and allow flood-prone communities to have fair access to basic services, including schools. ©UNICEF/NYHQ2008-1804/Noorani
