John Unger cradling his dog Schoep, in Lake Superior. Schoep is 19 and has arthritis that prevents him from sleeping. John carries Schoep to Lake Superior and cradles him in his arms until Schoep falls asleep. John credits Schoep for saving his life and now John does all he can for Schoep. If only more people cared about animals the way this man does.

"Touching Photo Of A Man And His Sick Dog" They say a dog is a man's best friend, but to John Unger, a Wisconsin resident, his dog, Schoep, means everything. 19 years old, Schoep has arthritis. Unger found that water is therapeutic for his pained buddy, so he takes Schoep into Lake Superior and lulls him to sleep. Shep falls asleep every night when he is carried into the lake. The buoyancy of the water soothes his arthritic bones.

This is such a sweet photo and a display of true love and trust: Every night John takes his 19 year old friend, Schoep, into the water of Lake Superior. The buoyancy of the water helps soothe the dogs arthritic bones and he drifts off to sleep in his master's arms.

photo by Hanna Hudson of John Unger and his 19 year old dog Schoep. John rescued Schoep when he was just 8 weeks old and the two have been best friends since. Schoep now suffers from severe arthritis in his legs and it hurts so badly that Schoep can't sleep. John has figured out a way to ease the pain. He takes Schoep to Lake Superior and holds him in the water until he falls asleep, sometimes for hours. Since the image went viral, John has received enough donations to treat Schoeps arthritis.

I see so many police abuse their power that it's good to have a reminder, however remote, they aren't all bad.

I dont know whether this particular story is true - but it is a great story to reflect upon if youve taken a rescued dog (or cat) into your home. I gave Storm a long head scratch after this.

Too sad this is only the expectation of sleeping with a dog, they are actually big bed hogs!
