In the top frame the Salt Lake Bees play the Albuquerque Isotopes in a AAA baseball matchup, Tuesday May 20, 2014 at Smith's Ballpark in Salt Lake City. Below is an undated photo from Community Park, which was on the same piece of ground as the modern day ballpark. Community Park burned down in 1947 and was rebuilt as Derk's Field.
Derks Field 1300 South and West Temple. No matter what they call the new stadium, it will still be Derks Field to me. I worked there for 3 summers on the grounds crew...best job of my life and I wasn't even a baseball fan..
Members of the Ute tribe are seen on the Ute reservation in this collection of photos by Robert L. Marimon, Sr. He homesteaded in the Whiterocks Canyon area in the early 1900s. Marimon's granddaughter, Nancy Martin, lived there from 1934-1955 and donated these photos to The Tribune. (Courtesy of Nancy Martin)
