Antebellum Home: Waverly Mansion, West Point, MS-We visited here in the early 70s when we were in the Air Force.
Waverly Mansion is located just outside of West Point, MS. A lovely antebellum home which serves as one of the references for Winston's home.
Simple Antebellum Architecture. Waverly Mansion, 10 miles east of West Point, MS was built in 1852 by Col. George Hampton Young of Georgia. It is a striking example of antebellum elegance with an octagonal shaped cupola & self supporting curved stairways. The plantation was a self-sustaining community with gardens, orchards & livestock. It maintained a brick kiln, cotton gin, ice house & swimming pool with a bathhouse.
Old Waverly Plantation in Mississippi. Talk about a haunted house!
