Hypertufa Moss garden by David Spain, of Moss and Stone Gardens, Raleigh, North Carolina (Moss species include Atrichum undulatum, Campylopus introflexus, Ceratadon purpureus, Dicranum scoparium, Entodon seductrix, and Luecobryum glaucum. Fungus is Parmelia lichen, and the Fern is Asplenium platyneuron (Ebony Spleenwort). This planting is for medium to low light levels, in a dry environment.

Could we build a two tiered side table that has a moss garden covered by a larger lath table top? Would they grow? Would it be too strange looking?

This reminds me of a place I camped as a child. The moss was so thick it was like laying on a feather bed, and the smell was so fragrant and sweet.

Moss and stone yard....I had a neighbor who did this. She couldn't get any grass to grow so she let the moss take over and just pulled the grass up, it was so pretty and she loved to walk in her yard barefoot because it was so comfortable.
