Dead Sea,Israel

The Dead Sea, Jordan. Various sects of Jews settled in caves overlooking the Dead Sea. The best known of these are the Essenes of Qumran, who left an extensive library known as the Dead Sea Scrolls.

The Dead Sea – bordering Israel, the West Bank and Jordan – is a salt lake whose banks are more than 400m below sea level, the lowest point on dry land. Its famously hypersaline water makes floating easy, and its mineral-rich black mud is used for therapeutic and cosmetic treatments at area resorts. The surrounding desert offers many oases and historic sites. (V)

I'm absolutely excited to be going to Israel in May! The Dead Sea which rests in between Israel and Jordan. Not only is it beautiful, but it is the lowest place on earth at about 1300 feet below sea level.
