☆ Spiral stairs ... beautiful stairway to heaven

Greenwich Park, London – Tulip Staircase at the Queen's House, England. The elegant Tulip Stairs in the Queen's House are the first geometric self-supporting spiral stairs in Britain. Although called the 'Tulip Stairs,' it is thought that the stylized flowers in the wrought-iron balustrade are actually fleurs-de-lis, as this was the emblem of the Bourbon family of which Queen Henrietta Maria (wife of Charles I) was a member.

Inspiring photography. Each stair is lit from every angle, the stairs appear to be inside out, going up, and going down all at once. The color of the stairwell fades from a pigmented black to a soft blue. The photo's concept is simple, but the details make the image really striking.

Alternate idea: make these floating stairs into pocket/slide out stairs that lead to the attic. (All or several at once--not each one slides out--that would not be time efficient.)

whether strolling a side street or stepping inside a beautiful museum in paris, you'll catch sight of some ornate wrought iron—and it's all simply exquisite. (february 2014)
