Or skip the microwave altogether and just use an air popper. :)

I do this but I wet my hands then rub my wet hands on the outside of the bag and then pop it so it doesn't catch fire. Never leave the microwave unattended.

Glass bowl + ceramic plate + popcorn kernels = perfectly popped popcorn in microwave. No bag. No butter or oil. Nothing to throw away afterward. And no un-popped kernels. Put 1/4 cup dry popcorn kernels in microwave-safe glass bowl (pyrex is a great choice). Place microwave-safe plate on top of bowl. Plate should be wide enough to go beyond rim of bowl. Microwave 2 min 45 sec. gm

Microwave Popcorn Trick ~ Learned this from Alton Brown Add 1/3 cup popcorn kernels to a brown paper bag, fold the bag over twice then heat in a microwave — folded side down — for 2 minutes. Even a bigger wow factor for students if you use 2 staples to keep the bag closed. It's metal in the microwave, but because of the size of the staples and the distance between (keep the staples several inches apart), no sparking or arcing occurs

Butter Flake Rolls Recipe by Alton Brown. I have made these a few times and they are delicious! Easiest bread recipe I have yet to find.

Alton Brown Ravioli (Hand Rolled) from FoodNetwork.com. I'm going to use Butternut Squash instead of his Meatloaf!!

homemade mayonnaise (thank you Alton Brown) We have made this time and time again...a bit modified (mainly doubled) It works best in a small food processor... 2 yolks 2 tsp salt 1 tsp mustard 4 tsp lemon juice 2 TB vinegar 1.5 c oil.

general recipe for batch 1. doubled vinegar, quad water, used 1/2 cup salt, 1/4 cup sugar. 2 tblsp spice mix.

Alton Brown's Parker House Rolls. Little extra step to measure out all the dry ingredients by weight, but so worth it! These were a HUGE hit with the family on Thanksgiving.
