Planting seedlings on the cheap using empty toilet paper rolls. Cut them so they fold on the bottom, fill with soil, poke a seed in & use a clementine box to sit them it. Viola! Plant it directly in the ground when ready & it's completely compost-ible :)
Get your garden started early by planting your seeds in eggshells indoors before the weather permits outdoor growth. There are several reasons why eggshells are the perfect pot for this, but the biggest is that they are cheap (free really), full of calcium to give your seedlings that extra boost, and easy to plant in the garden when ready (the shell can stay on!).
We were talking about this at the last meeting. Propagating basil is really just as simple as cutting, stripping the lower leaves and keeping it in a water for a few weeks. Viola, a ready to plant basil and the mother plant will usually benefit from the trim.
