June 6, 1968 Senator Robert Kennedy is dead after being shot the day before in a Los Angeles hotel. Kennedy had been the Democratic party's likely candidate for president as late returns in the California primary were pointing toward victory. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr accomplished more in 39 years of life than any man could wish to accomplish in 100 lifetimes. He was born January 15, 1929 into a life of Southern segration but would eventually be thrust into a unique position where he would become a national icon in the history of American progressivism.

He was born a slave. As a young boy, he ran to his freedom. He lived through Reconstruction and he lived through Jim Crow. But he went on to farm, and graduate from medical school and raise a family.
