Demitra Thomloudis - REMNANTS implements the structural language of the urban built environment. Hand fabricated out of steel, sterling silver and embellished with graphite pencil, my work borrows and deconstructs the organization and materials of constructed spaces. Within these simple forms ornament is described and invented through the simplicity of an edge, a sand paper mark or the junction of the materials themselves.
Alexander Luboff, from Oregon College of Art and Craft, fabricated his two-part ring from individual components he cast in sterling silver and bronze. The shanks of the interlocking rings slip into a wooden base. Dead Reckoning is 3 x 4 x 1 in. (76 x 102 x 25.5 mm). Photo by Dan Kvitka. This piece appeared in the March 2009 issue of Art Jewelry.
