"I love people who make me laugh. I honestly think it's the thing I like most, to laugh. It cures a multitude of ills. It's probably the most important thing in a person." -Audrey Hepburn

Audrey Hepburn. Helped hide Jewish families during WWII and became the face of UNICEF.
She described seeing Jewish families in the neighborhood being loaded into trucks but said she and her neighbors had no idea where they were being taken. So she didn't hide Jewish families and no one in her family was arrested for mistakenly being Jewish. Anyway, she was afraid of being kidnapped and taken to a German brothel as was happening to girls in the neighborhood. She started carrying messages to the resistance at a huge risk to her own life.
The Germans and Allies went from street to street fighting in 1945 and she describes how everyone would hide in their basements only coming out long enough to see how much of their house was left. She said on the morning of April 29th the gunfire stopped and she heard singing in English. They went back upstairs, opened the door and found the house surrounded by English soldiers who let out a cheer when they discovered they'd freed an English girl.
