"AN ART NOUVEAU GOLD, PLIQUE-À-JOUR ENAMEL AND PEARL PENDANT-BROOCH, CIRCA 1900. Designed as a spray of morning glories, the petals accented with rose, white and green plique-à-jour enamel and translucent purple enamel, decorated further with small old-mine and rose-cut diamonds and baroque pearls.:
The sepia woman holding the lantern is ‘lighting the way so that others may see’ (an allegory to God) with her right foot forward and the foliage behind her. The difference in the clasp to the piece shows it was a later addition to a pendant.
